aceartinc. is excited to announce some staffing updates!
The aceartinc. Board of Directors is overjoyed to welcome Breanne Siwicki as our new Finance & Administration Director and Cam Scott as our Interim Program Director!
Breanne joins the aceartinc. team effective immediately. Her role will be to maintain the day to day operations for the organization, a role formerly held by Tani Miki. Breanne’s enthusiasm and keen organizational skills will be a welcome asset.
Breanne (she/her) grew up on Treaty 1 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota in 2017, before returning to Winnipeg to complete her MFA at the University of Manitoba School of Art in 2019. Breanne studied photography, working on embedding colour into black and white prints. She has also worked with Polaroid to create installations from scanned manipulated images. A multidisciplinary artist, Breanne recently shifted her focus to ceramics. She currently works out of her studio within the Manitoba Institute of Sculptors and Artists, to which she serves as Vice President.
Breanne’s warm personality, work ethic and dedication are immediately recognizable upon initial introduction. Her years of experience with financial management in the hospitality industry and formal education in the arts made her the perfect candidate for this position. She is keen to engage with the community in activating our new space on 206 Princess St.
Cam Scott (he/him) is a poet, critic, and sound artist from Winnipeg, Canada, Treaty 1 territory. He is artistic director of send + receive, a festival of sound art and experimental music. His books include the poetry collection ROMANS/SNOWMARE (ARP Books, 2019), part of an ongoing project of language-based social collage, and THE VANISHING SIGNS (ARP Books, 2022), a collection of critical writing on experimental literature and social space. As an improviser and performer he has played hundreds of shows in dozens of countries and participated in many recordings in a variety of groups and collaborations.
As interim program director of aceartinc., his vision emphasizes open doors and purposeful communication: “aceartinc. is located at the junction of many communities, and I see this space as an important node of collaboration and discussion between all kinds of artists of different backgrounds and experience. As aceartinc. enters a new era in a new location, my hope is to engage this space and its participants with politically conversant and socially responsive programming, in the conviction that art is for everyone without restriction—and that this ideal accessibility requires the broadest possible input.”
We welcome Breanne and Cam, and look forward to re-establishing aceartinc. as a premiere artist-run centre in the heart of Winnipeg’s arts community.
Our AGM meeting will be held in person at aceartinc. On May 25, 2023 at 6pm. More information will be shared regarding our calendar year in the very near future. Keep your eyes on this space!
