Sticky Saccharine plays with symbolism derived from art historical works and reflects on the philosophical and political roots of still-life painting and the rich, collectively evolved vocabulary developed within the genre. These symbols, combined with fragments pulled from grocery store flyers, extemporized still lifes, and pilfered from the internet, are reorganized in a series of drawings and ceramic sculptures. In these works, objects are isolated from their original context and serve as operators in encoded messages. The works investigate where meaning holds and where it drifts, encouraging improvised interpretations.

Sculptures incorporating finite movement speak of mortality and decay, motifs central to still lifes. Forms shift, release salt, or drip wax before returning to stillness, linking the inexorable flow of time to the ephemeral symphony of life.

Some works ask questions about the realities of our time and possibilities for the future, while others serve as warnings.
